Forklift Safety
Every year there are an alarming number of forklift operators injured in the workplace. Major changes have taken place over the years regarding workplace safety with more being done to protect forklift operators from injury.
WorkSafe has put in place a zero-tolerance policy regarding breaches in forklift safety. The new Work Safe Act now requires forklifts are serviced and maintained on a regular basis and documented evidence may be required if an officer audits your site.
The owner or hirer of the forklift is also responsible for ensuring reported faults are fixed in a reasonable period of time. This service agreement represents a part of that responsibility but cannot force repairs be carried out once reported.
Staff at Forco regularly undergo training in new technologies, techniques, products and work practices related to the industry. This means you are kept up to date with the latest information and work practices.
Maintenance is one of the most important parts of keeping your forklift safe. Some areas to look at are - is the forklift chain adjusted correctly? Are the tyres suffering from wear and tear and compliant with Occupational Health and Safety Standards? Is your forklift fitted with a load rating plate and is the reverse beeper and rotating beacon working properly?
